چکیده

This paper presents the development and implementation of a Real-Time Expert System (RTES) for the supervision and control of a wastewater treatment pilot plant (WWTPP) with biological removal of organic matter and nutrients. The hardware architecture contains different supervision levels, including two autonomous process computers (plant control and analysers control) and a PLC, being the ES the top supervisory level. The RTES has been developed using a commercial, industrially validated RTES-development software G2 (by Gensym Corp). It actuates as the master in a supervisory setpoint control (SSC) scheme and it is based on a distributed architecture. The knowledge is organised in several agents, representing the available knowledge for every sub-process of the WWTPP. In addition to these independent agents, a supervisor agent acts as the master of the multi-agent distributed system.  1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.

Thesis: Development, Implementation and Evaluation of an Activated Sludge Supervisory System for the Granollers WWTP

The present document wants to gather the experience obtained in the development of a Supervisory System for optimal WWTP management and control, its implementation in a real plant (Granollers WWTP) and its evaluation in the day-to-day operation with typical plant situations. This Supervisory System combines and integrates classical control of WWTP (automatic controller for maintaining a fixed d...

DAI-DEPUR: an integrated and distributed architecture for wastewater treatment plants supervision

The activated sludge process –the main biological technology usually applied to wastewater treatment plants (WWTP)– directly depends on live beings (microorganisms), and therefore, on unforeseen changes experimented by them. It could be possible to get a good plant operation if the supervisory control system is able to react to the changes and deviations of the system and can take the necessary...

ADAPTIVE CONTROL WITH AN EXPERT SYSTEM BASED SUPERVISORY LEVEL by

Adaptive Controllers are susceptible to many commonly occurring implementation problems, and require some form of supervision to maintain good performance. In this thesis a two level adaptive control strategy is presented that uses an expert system to diagnose and correct problems with an adaptive controller. In contrast with other expert supervised adaptive control schemes, where problem treat...

Development Environment of Expert System to Operate in Real Time with Industrial Automation Supervisory System

Normally the operator’s interaction with Supervisory Systems developed for an industrial automated process is a manual process, which depends on the operator’s skills and the constant operation’s attention. This work presents the development, application and tests of the expert system denominated SISES “Sistema de Integração de Sistemas Especialistas e Supervisórios”, that means System of Integ...

An expert system for a semi-batch pilot scale emulsion copolymerisation facility

A knowledge-based system (KBS) has been developed for a semi-batch pilot scale emulsion copolymerisation reactor facility. A simulation model was developed for the feed of styrene and MMA monomers as well as surfactant and initiator to control the particle size distribution (PSD) and molecular weight distribution (MWD) over the entire monomer conversion. The expert system architecture provides ...
